Current forms of cybercrime and their victims
Annotation:
Previous and current IKSP research on cybercrime has emphasised the urgency of this issue. Many people in the Czech Republic have experienced various forms of virtual violence, such as abuse of online accounts, unsolicited communication, and surveillance. Misleading others or taking advantage of someone else's mistake is also common. Of particular concern is gender-based virtual violence and/or violence targeting particularly vulnerable victims. The research task will therefore focus on current trends in virtual violence and its prevalence. The findings will provide a clearer picture of this highly latent behaviour in the Czech environment, enabling a more targeted approach to the prevention and treatment of virtual violence. A better understanding will enable more effective treatment of victims and perpetrators, particularly within the criminal justice system, as well as helping organisations. This research is in line with the requirements of the Crime Prevention Strategy for the Czech Republic 2022–2027, particularly point G.5.2.
