Anotation:
This publication provides readers with a comprehensive overview of current practices for preparing prisoners for release from prison in the Czech Republic. It enables readers to familiarise themselves with the latest foreign research findings relevant to preparation for release. Within the framework of relevant legislation and the factual activities of the Czech Security Service in this area, the publication outlines the work with convicted individuals from their entry into prison to their preparation for release. The monograph is enriched by the insights of social workers and specialist educators within the prison system, as captured through a questionnaire survey. It is also illustrated by selected psychological characteristics of prisoners currently preparing for life outside prison (e.g. psychological analysis of personality structure, risk factors and stress responses). The authors apply the model of integration for foreigners to the needs of working with convicts in preparation for release. Alongside findings from their own research and that of others, both foreign and domestic, they establish the basis for their proposed reintegration programme after release.
