Crime and victimisation in socially excluded localities in the Czech Republic
Annotation:
Studies of victimisation generally do not reflect the experiences of people living in socially excluded areas. This results in a lack of specific data on which to base effective policy interventions in this area. This population group faces specific challenges that require long-term monitoring and analysis for the effective implementation of national strategies, not only in terms of equality, inclusion and the participation of the Roma community, but also in other areas. This research project will analyse patterns of crime and victimisation in selected socially excluded areas of the Czech Republic. The experience of victimisation and crime perpetration will be examined, as well as attitudes towards crime (including fear of crime), in selected socially excluded localities in the Czech Republic. The findings will generate empirical evidence to inform social inclusion and crime prevention strategies. If funding is reduced, the size of the research sample will be adjusted accordingly.
