Trends in crime and sanction policy
Annotation:
Monitoring and analysing the development of crime and sanction policy is essential for maintaining the knowledge base needed to develop proposals and measures for improving crime control. The research task will therefore aim to continuously monitor the development of crime and the sanctions imposed. Data will be drawn from existing databases, as well as from our own research and secondary analysis of other sources. Building on the IKSP's annual traditional analyses of crime and sanction policy, the project will provide an up-to-date overview of the current situation. To increase the timeliness of the analysed data, it will be published online at regular intervals, accompanied by brief background commentaries on developments.
Additionally, some thematic areas that are not covered by the main research projects of the medium-term plan, such as corporate and juvenile sanctions, the development of the drug scene, current problems of sexually motivated crime, the functioning of open prisons, organised crime, illegal migration and crime against foreigners, will be processed as partial analytical studies as necessary and to an appropriate extent.
