The book presents the results of a five-year research programme on the effects of the transformation of criminal legislation on the state of crime and the improvement of the effectiveness of justice in relation to the safety of the citizens of the Czech Republic in the horizon of the year 2000. The focus was on the institutes of community service, settlement, conditional suspension of prosecution and probation.
