Employment as a factor in desistance

Annotation
This publication summarises the findings of a research project on the relationship between employment and the process of leaving a criminal career. In addition to a review of the most important criminological theories, it offers the findings of its own empirical investigation, which tested the effectiveness of the Rubicon Centre's programme for people with criminal histories. A qualitative narrative analysis was also conducted, as well as an expert survey of prison social workers, social probation officers, Labour Office staff and heads of Probation and Mediation Service centres.
