Selected Problems of Organised Crime

Anotation:
The thirty-second expert survey on the activities and characteristics of organised crime was conducted in 2024. The survey focused on the use of juveniles and children by organised crime groups, how these groups recruit new members, corrupt behaviour, how organised economic crime is represented, the nature of its perpetrators and how organised crime groups use cybercrime tools. As in previous years, police officers employed in special units of the Czech Police were contacted as respondents for the purposes of the expert survey. The experts' opinions confirmed that the ethnic factor still plays a significant role in the formation of groups and the recruitment of new members, although it could be argued that this role is gradually eroding. Perpetrators of juvenile age are only marginally present in organised crime groups. Conversely, the experts' comments confirmed the expansion of organised crime into economic crime and its significant use of cyberspace. The experts confirmed that direct financial enrichment is the most common means of corruption, and they identified the professions and functions that are most vulnerable to corruption. Notably, these are positions in the public sphere, such as politics, the civil service, and the economy.
