Criminal history of perpetrators of serious violence in the Czech Republic
Annotation
Research has repeatedly confirmed that information about offenders' criminal history is an important part of knowledge about them, for example, for the purpose of assessing the possibility of their future criminal recidivism. One of the studies conducted at the Institute for Criminology and Social Prevention, which mapped the area of serious violent crime, focused specifically on the area of offenders' criminal history. The monograph, which offers selected results of this empirical research, deals, among other things, with the issue of defining the criminal conduct itself, which for the purposes of the nationwide criminological research (in the Czech environment) can be described as serious violent crimes in criminal law. A separate part of the publication is a description of a research group of more than two thousand convicted offenders of serious violence, whose criminal history, in terms of previous final convictions, was analysed.
