Evaluating the effectiveness of criminal justice interventions
One of the core principles of modern and rational twenty-first century penal policy is the emphasis on the application of only those punishments, measures or correctional programmes that have a demonstrable effect on reducing crime.
Research on the effectiveness of currently applied interventions provides indispensable feedback in this respect, both for the institutions responsible for the formulation and development of penal policy and for the law enforcement authorities themselves, as well as other organisations involved in the system of treatment of offenders and victims of crime.
