Trends in the development of organized crime and its selected forms
Annotation
The publication is the result of the research project "Organized crime in the Czech Republic - development, possible criminogenic factors, selected activities and legal instruments of punishment". The project, building on previous long-term research activities, focused on the identification of possible social influences, risks and criminogenic factors that may influence the emergence, formation and operation of forms and activities of organised crime. The project also continued to monitor the development of organised crime activities and structures in the Czech Republic for many years. With regard to the current problem and phenomenon of the present time, which is manifested in Europe - and not only in Europe - the project also focused on the phenomenon of migration and in particular on the activities of organised crime in relation to illegal migration. The impact of the manifestations of irregular migration on society, especially on public opinion and fears of crime, was also a subject of attention. As part of the project, a STUDY of the state and forms of organised crime in Ukraine was also prepared, especially with regard to some of the consequences that the activities of Ukrainian organised crime have for the Czech Republic. Due to its extreme seriousness, the research also focused on the so-called methanol affair, where a large organization of perpetrators carried out the production and distribution of alcohol contaminated with methanol. Network analysis as a relatively new approach to the study of organized criminal activities was used to develop this STUDY.
