Annotation
This publication is a translation of a study by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) - Prison and drugs in Europe: current and future challenges. It offers a comprehensive description and analysis of the various aspects of the problems of drug use in the prison environment in European countries, addressing the issue from a variety of perspectives. It provides an epidemiological overview of drug use before, during and after imprisonment, describes related health problems of prisoners, maps interventions aimed at reducing drug use problems in the prison environment, and does not shy away from the sensitive issue of drug supply mechanisms in prisons.
