13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

Annotation
The thirteenth consecutive congress was organized in 2015 in Doha, Qatar. In a declaration adopted at this congress, UN member states pledged to uphold the rule of law and combat crime nationally and internationally, to strive for effective and fair criminal justice systems, and to respect all human rights and fundamental freedoms. Special attention was paid to current and urgent problems and forms of crime, especially the issue of migrant smuggling and the problem of cybercrime. From a number of documents discussed at the congress, we therefore selected for publication in Czech translation, in addition to the basic document - the Declaration - precisely those documents that deal with human trafficking and migrant smuggling, which is a problem that is currently weighing heavily on Europe, and further cybercrime and trafficking in cultural goods, as examples of emerging forms of criminal activity that are gaining importance as a result of globalization and the development of information technologies. The publication also included the UN Secretary-General's report on the global situation of crime and criminal justice, which maps development trends in this area, a document on international cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime and new forms of transnational crime.
