Record of alternative punishments and measures and determination of attrition rate

The content of the study, the results of which are presented in this publication in Czech translation, consisted of the question of pan-European evidence of alternative punishments and measures (community sanction and measurements) and data on the organization and activities of probation authorities. Part of the project was also the determination of the rate of natural decrease of cases (attrition) between the stages of criminal proceedings from the police investigation, through the level of the public prosecutor's office to the imposition of an (unconditional) sentence by the court and possibly its execution in prison. The focus of the study was information obtained from 40 countries on the basis of a questionnaire survey on selected alternative punishments - supervision, community service and electronic monitoring, further divided according to whether they were imposed on juvenile or adult offenders, at what stage of criminal proceedings or according to selected crimes . The existence of probation offices, their competences, tasks and way of (co)operation within the criminal justice system was also mapped.
