Danger and violence in the prison environment

Annotation
The specialist monograph presents selected results of IKSP research, which was mainly focused on mapping the way of assessing the dangerousness of prisoners in Czech prisons and measures to prevent violence in the prison environment. The main goal was to obtain new criminological knowledge about prisoners identified as problematic, or dangerous persons, on violent behavior between imprisoned persons, and on measures implemented in response to violent incidents. The author explains basic terms, theoretical concepts and practical aspects in the field of identifying dangerous (risky) prisoners and violence in the prison environment. It clearly and critically summarizes how the current legislation deals with these problems, paying the main attention to the internal regulations of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, but also not neglecting their reflection in the new concept of prisons and in current legislative proposals. The book also contains available empirical knowledge about identified dangerous prisoners and violent incidents in Czech prisons.
