Criminal thinking styles: Inventory PICTS-cz

Annotation
The publication offers information and insights related to the concept of criminal thinking and criminal lifestyle, and introduces the reader to techniques designed for its mapping and measurement. Attention is paid in particular to the psychodiagnostic tool - the Psychological Inventory of Criminal Thinking Styles (PICTS) by Glenn D. Walters, which is a widely accepted tool for detecting the occurrence and intensity of criminal attitudes in adult criminals, or prison population. The empirical part of this monograph focuses on the adaptation of the aforementioned Inventory to Czech conditions (PICTS-cz). The normative set, on which the standardization took place, included 586 convicted men serving a prison sentence. The PICTS-cz inventory shows satisfactory values of basic psychometric parameters, comparable to the results of studies carried out on the standardization set of the author of the method. Reliability tests and indicative evidence of the inventory's validity indicate the possibilities of its use as a useful aid in the diagnostic practice of prison psychologists and forensic psychologists.
