The book analyzes and describes the causes of the current large number of prisoners and changes in the development trends of the prison population, and also presents some new information about imprisonment in Czech prisons. A comparison of the prison population in the Czech Republic with neighboring countries (Slovakia, Hungary and Austria) then illustrates the situation in the field of imprisonment in Central Europe.
